ID Card Centre, a leading provider of ID card printers, accessories, and identity solutions, wanted to grow a high-performing sales team from within. They were looking for apprentices who could develop alongside the business, gaining the skills, behaviours, and confidence to excel in sales – and eventually mentor the next wave of talent.
Claire Eames, Operations & HR Manager, shares how the Level 4 Sales Executive Apprenticeship from BMS Progress has helped them develop two thriving sales apprentices who are already making a significant impact.
The company had a clear growth objective: expand the sales team with apprentices who could learn, develop, and grow alongside the business. They wanted individuals who would become an integral part of the company’s future, not just fill short-term roles.
By partnering with BMS Progress, ID Card Centre aimed to create a pathway for apprentices to gain technical sales expertise, professional behaviours, and the confidence to represent the business at a high standard – with the ultimate goal of seeing them progress into senior roles and mentor future recruits.
The Level 4 Sales Executive Apprenticeship stood out because it covered every area where growth was needed.
“We loved the look of the programme – it offered training in all the areas we were looking for growth.”
BMS Progress worked closely with ID Card Centre to ensure the apprenticeship aligned with the company’s strategic plan at each stage. Development Coach, Daryl, adapted learning content to meet business priorities, making sure apprentices gained skills that could be applied immediately in their roles.
The delivery of the programme stood out for its responsiveness and collaboration. The support provided went beyond scheduled training sessions, with Daryl maintaining close communication with both the apprentices and Claire to ensure consistent progress.
“Daryl has been a great support in growing and pushing the learners to get where they needed – even taking calls and responding to emails when there were potential concerns.”
Two apprentices are now excelling in their roles, developing into confident and capable sales professionals. Both are preparing to take on mentorship roles for the next cohort of apprentices, helping to continue the cycle of growth within the business.
Claire describes both apprentices as “exceptional sales people” – each demonstrating their own strengths and specialisms: One has developed a talent for managing large tenders from start to completion, the other has shown a strong aptitude for outbound calling, successfully driving growth with both existing customers and new business prospects.
The programme has not only strengthened the sales team today, but also set the stage for sustainable growth and development in the years ahead.
