Chubb Fire & Security, a trusted global leader in life safety and security solutions, wanted to ensure that their supervisors and people leaders had the tools, knowledge, and confidence to lead effectively. As employees were promoted into management positions, many were stepping into leadership roles without having had the opportunity to formally develop core management skills.
Sarah Relf (Head of Talent & Development) and Jim McSharry (Head of Technical Learning & Development) from the Talent, Learning & Development team share how partnering with BMS Progress has helped Chubb upskill and empower people leaders across the business, developing a strong internal leadership pipeline and achieving outstanding learner results.

Supervisors and people leaders at Chubb were being promoted into new roles without the fundamental management training needed to support individuals and teams effectively. The business recognised the need to strengthen skills in time management, people development, and team leadership to help deliver stronger business results.
The primary goal was to enhance the leadership skills of junior and middle people leaders, creating a clear progression path into more complex and senior roles, and ensuring a consistent standard of management capability across the business.
Chubb had worked with BMS Progress previously and were confident in the quality of delivery and collaborative approach. What stood out to Chubb was our willingness to tailor the Level 3 and Level 5 programmes to the company’s specific needs, making the learning highly relevant to the organisation and its people.
“We had experience of working with BMS previously and liked their approach and quality of delivery. Their willingness to tailor the programmes to better suit our business was key.”

We worked closely together with Chubb to integrate internal subject matter experts into the learning journey. These experts delivered masterclasses on key topics, enriching the programme and providing learners with practical, real-world insights from within their own business.
With large cohorts joining both management programmes, having influence over delivery methods and training locations was essential. BMS Progress collaborated with Chubb to design a flexible delivery structure that supported the needs of a busy operational workforce while maintaining the quality of learning.
The quality of delivery in workshops was matched by the exceptional support learners received between sessions. Coaches played a critical role in guiding apprentices through their development, ensuring steady progress and building confidence.
“The delivery of content in workshops was excellent, but the support given by coaches in between workshops was fundamental and key to why so many of our learners achieved top grades.”

The impact of the programmes has been significant. Many learners have progressed into more senior positions within the business or been selected for strategic growth projects—clear evidence of the strength and value of their development.
Chubb has achieved a distinction rate of over 50%, a result that demonstrates both the commitment of learners and the quality of delivery. These outcomes stand among the best compared to similar programmes across other organisations.
The success of the programmes has inspired a wider appetite for learning and professional growth. Many colleagues who have seen the results firsthand are now eager to take part in further development programmes.
“Many teammates have experienced a strong desire to take on further development programmes, which has demonstrated to other colleagues the value of CPD and taking on a program that will challenge and stretch but that will ultimately improve own performance.”
