The Objectives

Before BMS Progress I didn't have the belief I could complete an Apprenticeship.


Initially, when I first started to look into an apprenticeship I was led by the misconceptions that apprenticeships were for young people, those unsure of where they wanted to go in their career and ultimately those who were academically strong.


Having struggled academically, a lack of self-belief had me thinking I couldn’t complete an apprenticeship, but with the support from BMS Progress and my determination and desire to further my professional development and career in sales I knew it was important to dive in to this opportunity.

The Solution

From the very start of joining the apprenticeship, the BMS team not only provided me with the tools and opportunities to develop my sales abilities, but unwavering support mentally and emotionally.

Phenomenal support

I started  the Level 4 Sales Apprenticeship in September 2021, and what really made the experience unique was the support from my development coaches, Sarah and Suzy. They acted as a pillar for me to lean on and continued to push me to achieve my best throughout the apprenticeship; even when I didn’t believe I could, BMS progress did, and this was so important for me, as someone who lacked self-belief. My functional skills tutor, Suzy, gave me unparalleled support, and played a huge role in my passing of English and math. Both Sarah and Suzy are a credit to BMS.

Endless opportunities

There’s more to development than training – throughout the course, I was given plenty of blended learning opportunities. From face-to-face workshops, and class room based learning, to virtual tutoring. Learning amongst a group of like-minded people, with the same goal in mind was so valuable to me and my role.

I worked closely with my development coach, Sarah, who equipped me with the invaluable tools to time manage and plan, in order for me to get the very best out of the programme and in my day-to-day job.

The Result

I achieved so much more than I thought I would.


By completing this apprenticeship I have achieved so much more than I thought I would. To start, I achieved my Level 2 English and math functional skills and Level 4 Sales Diploma from the Institute of Sales Professionals.

Improved business knowledge

The programme enabled me to cross-network with colleagues in other business units, which gave me further insight into the wider business and the ability to learn from my peers.

Confidence and growth

In hand with this, and another huge success for me, was my promotion from Export Territory Manager to National Account Executive. I have experienced so much personal growth, I have a lot more belief in myself, and know now that I can continue to challenge myself.
